Letters-to-the-Editor
The Washington Post

February 4, 2021

Dear Editor:

Before becoming a leading celebrity interviewer on CNN, as described by Hank Stuever’s January 24, 2021 article, Larry King developed a pioneering nationally syndicated late-night radio talk show in the late Eighties and early Nineties. Larry invited civic advocates & authors often ignored by the mainstream media to his large audience. He would interview them for an hour, then have two hours of listener questions. He also encouraged his guests to give their addresses where their books, articles, and documentaries could be obtained.

Always polite, he did not overtalk, believing that the program was for the voice of his quests and his wide audience. What a difference from today’s SHOUT talk radio and domination by the show’s anchor!

Sincerely,

Ralph Nader
