In order to increase its leverage over Northwest Airlines mechanics, management is decreasing the margin of safety for its passengers.

If Northwest Airlines executives are as willing to sacrifice their past and present compensation packages the way they are demanding round after round of sacrifices by their mechanics, then any settlement would be infused with a greater degree of equity.
