Here are two recent items worth reading—
- First, is from Harper’s Magazine publisher John R. MacArthur: The Spectator: The outrageous cynicism of the Democrats on Iran.
A select quote:
“Trump is incorrigible, and unreachable, so outrage is a hopeless tactic and calling him a hypocrite largely useless. If you want to express true outrage, it would be better to focus on the feeble, more politically sensitive opposition party known as the Democrats. The party’s latest act of outrageous cynicism occurred on March 5, when the House Democrats, led by the impeccably attired and pusillanimous Hakeem Jeffries, voted on whether to invoke Section 5(c) of the War Powers Act, which would have required Trump to stop the Iran war immediately, forcing him to request permission from Congress to renew his unconstitutional action – unconstitutional because Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution grants Congress, not the President, the power “To declare War.” Curiously, given the unpopularity of the war across most sectors of the country, the resolution failed 219-212 with four Democrats voting no and two Republicans voting yes.”
- Second, is from a loyal Radio Hour listener, Lloyd Baroody. Baroody submitted this Letter to the Editor to the Lakeville Journal in Lakeville, Connecticut. They opted not to publish it.
The Hijacking of the US
The long-term decline of the US empire has been accelerated thanks to the submission of President Trump and his acolytes to the demands of the Israeli government. Very simply, the US and Israel attacked Iran because of Zionist diktat. How did this happen? It occurred because of the legal bribery that allows special interest groups like the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and Epstein Class billionaires to contribute unlimited funds to our elected government representatives.
We are engulfed in a war that we can neither win nor stop. The Iranians are now in a war, not of their choice, in which they have no option other than to fight to the finish. Iran is a country of 93 million people, the size of Western Europe, and with a history of over 2,000 years (when it was called Persia). Its resources and ability to fight back have been greatly underestimated.
The Trump administration thinks that it can use conventional weapons to bomb Iran back to the Stone Age to force them to do as the US and Israel tell them to do. But Iranian drones and inexpensive high-tech missiles are the asymmetric equivalent of the guerilla warfare that contributed to the US defeat in Vietnam.
This war has already changed the world order in a radical way. The oil-rich Gulf States have been left in the lurch by the US. They won’t forget that when asked to help fund our national debt of nearly $40 trillion. The rising price of gas at the pump is only the tip of the iceberg of inflationary costs to everyday Americans. Economic fallout will get much worse and permeate every sector of the world economy.
Total and unwavering support of Israel has offered nothing to the US. In fact, it damages us economically and politically, and it reveals our government’s moral bankruptcy. What a shame that Israel, a country of less than 10 million, (7 million of whom are Jewish) and its Zionist supporters have wreaked such havoc on the US, a country of almost 340 million. This can end only with the either the defeat or dissolution of Israel. Since the legal bribery previously mentioned continues, this is unlikely to happen immediately. However, Israel’s attempted regional hegemony and savage behavior (e.g. Gaza) are unsustainable in the world community. It will eventually and rightfully come crashing down on them. In the process, Israel may take a lot of people with them if, in desperation, they decide to use nuclear weapons.
The warmongers need to be stopped by us now before they do more damage.
